On July 17, 2024, McNally Contractors’ very own Cole Deighton received the prestigious Fire Chief Commendation for his extraordinary bravery.
In May 2024, while working at a client’s site, Cole noticed smoke coming from part of the facility. Investigating, he found a skid steer on fire with an employee trapped inside. Demonstrating remarkable courage, Cole broke the skid steer’s glass window with a fire extinguisher and rescued the severely burned worker. He also worked quickly to extinguish the fire, putting it out by the time the fire service arrived. His heroic action saved a life that day.
This commendation, awarded by Foothills County Fire and Diamond Valley Fire Rescue to individuals who go above and beyond to rescue community members, has only been given once before, making Cole the second recipient. He received a commendation certificate signed by both Fire Chiefs and a medallion.
Additionally, Cole and his crew—Collin Henderson, Xavier Hofer, and Dennis Dillabough—were honored with the Safety Champion Award by McNally Contractors’ Management. This award recognizes crews that exemplify exceptional safety practices and thorough documentation.
Cole’s brave actions not only saved a life but also underscored the values of courage, teamwork and quick thinking that we uphold at our company. Congratulations to Cole and the entire crew for their outstanding bravery and dedication to safety.
