Volker Stevin Canada is pleased to announce that Marcel Rijkens has been named Chief Financial Officer, effective January 25, 2023. 

“I am excited to announce Marcel’s new position as Chief Financial Officer,” said Fred Desjarlais, Volker Stevin Canada’s Chief Executive Officer. “I’ve had the privilege of working with Marcel for nine years, and in that time, he has solidified himself as a strong leader with a keen aptitude for finance and operations. This skillset, coupled with his previous experience at Volker Wessels, undoubtedly makes him the perfect choice.” 

Marcel started his career with Volker Wessels in 2011 as a Group Reporting Manager. Marcel and his family moved from Holland in 2014, so he could begin a new role as a Controller with Volker Stevin Canada, supporting both the Highways and Contracting businesses. In 2018, Marcel was promoted to General Manager of the Highways business. Since then, he has led his operations team to provide a high level of highway maintenance to service Volker Stevin’s many communities.  

“I am very humbled and proud of my promotion to Chief Financial Officer,” said Rijkens. “I look forward to working alongside Fred and the rest of the Executive team and continuing the growth and success of Volker Stevin.”
